Stop guessing what's in your beauty routine. Here's exactly how GlowLens turns a single photo into a complete, evidence-backed ingredient report — and why the result is one you can trust.
The 30-second story
Most cosmetic labels are written in a language no one reads. We built {brandName} so you don't have to. Point your camera, paste an INCI list, or type a product name — and watch the label translate itself into something you actually understand.
The four steps
From label to clarity
No magic. No black box. Here's the full pipeline, in plain language.
01
01
Capture or paste
Start however you like — a photo, an INCI list, or a product name.
Snap the back of any cosmetic product, paste the ingredient list straight from a brand's website, or type a product name to pull a known formula. The interface is the same on phone and desktop, and nothing is ever uploaded before you confirm.
Works with crinkled labels, glossy reflections, multi-language packaging, and INCI lists copied from anywhere on the web.
02
02
Extract every ingredient
Optical character recognition reads the label. A language model cleans up the result.
First, OCR pulls raw text from your photo. Then a language model interprets it — separating CI numbers from botanical names, normalising INCI spelling, and flagging anything it isn't sure about so you can correct it before the analysis runs.
Tricky labels — small print, multiple languages stacked on one panel, partially obscured ingredients — are exactly what this step is built for.
03
03
Cross-reference the science
Each ingredient is checked against public scientific and regulatory sources.
Every entry is matched against safety profiles drawn from EU CosIng, the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review, EWG Skin Deep, and peer-reviewed dermatological and toxicological literature. We aggregate consensus, not opinion.
When sources disagree, we surface that disagreement instead of hiding it behind a single number. Honest uncertainty beats false confidence.
04
04
Read the full report
A unified safety score, an ingredient-by-ingredient breakdown, and notes tailored to you.
You get a single headline score, a colour-coded breakdown of every ingredient, allergen alerts mapped to your skin profile, environmental and aquatic-toxicity context, and clear explanations of what each compound actually does in the formula.
Save the report to your account, share it with a friend, or compare two products side by side — your call. The full analysis stays free, forever.
Why you can trust the result
Built honest, on purpose
Transparency about how we work is the only way we earn the right to score someone else's transparency.
Backed by public science
Every score we publish traces back to public regulatory sources — EU CosIng, EU SCCS opinions, CIR safety assessments, EWG Skin Deep — or peer-reviewed studies. We cite sources on every ingredient page.
Honest about what we don't know
Some ingredients have decades of safety data. Others have almost none. We never invent certainty where the science is thin — those entries are flagged so you can decide for yourself.
Private by default
Your scans and photos are never sold, shared, or used to train third-party models. Saving a product to the public database is opt-in, anonymous, and reversible at any time.
Free, with no premium tier
No paywall hides the good stuff. No "unlock full report" button. The complete analysis — every ingredient, every source, every score — is free for everyone, forever.
Common questions
Before you scan, a few honest answers
If we haven't covered it here, contact us — we read every message.
Is GlowLens really free?
Yes — fully and permanently. There is no premium tier, no credit card wall, and no "upgrade to see the full report." Ingredient transparency is a right, not a subscription.
What happens if a product isn't in your database?
Scan or paste the ingredient list and we'll analyse it on the spot — no pre-existing product entry required. If you choose to save it (opt-in), the analysed product becomes available to the next person who searches for it.
How can I get the most accurate results?
Shoot the ingredient list in focus and in good light, or paste the INCI text directly from the brand's website. The cleaner the input, the fewer guesses our model has to make — and the more confident the final score.
Can I really trust the safety scores?
Treat them as a strong starting point, not a medical diagnosis. We aggregate public regulatory and scientific sources — but no automated score replaces a dermatologist when you're dealing with a real skin condition. Where sources disagree, we tell you.
Which languages and labels are supported?
The interface speaks English, German, French, and Italian today. Label reading is INCI-based, so it works on any product that uses the international cosmetic naming convention — which is the global standard.
What happens to my photos?
Photos are used only to run your analysis. We don't sell them, we don't share them with advertisers, and we don't feed them to third-party model training. You can delete your scan history from your account at any time.
Ready when you are
Try it on a product in your bathroom.
Pull the closest cosmetic off the shelf. Scan the back. See what's actually in it. The whole thing takes less than thirty seconds.
